Ray Richmond is contributing to Deadline's TCA coverage. HBO announced this afternoon at TCA that it has greenlighted The Normal Heart, an original movie adaptation of the Tony-winning Larry Kramer play that will star Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo in the key roles and co-star Matt Bomer. The film is being written by Kramer, while Ryan Murphy is set to direct and executive produce along with Jason Blum, Dede Gardner and Dante Di Loreto. It's slated to begin production later this.

The DreamWorks film, with distribution from Fox and Disney, was set to hit theaters in 2014. Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse has been postponed for an indefinite time. The sci-fi action film from DreamWorks would have been distributed by Fox and Disney, with Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth in talks to star. Based on the 2011 book by Daniel H. Wilson, Robopocalypse would have reunited Fox and Spielberg, who worked together on 2002's Minority Report. 25 Most Powerful Authors in Hollywood.

Bones will be return for another round, the network announced Tuesday. “After more than 150 episodes, Bones continues to be one of television's most dynamic and consistent dramas,” said Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly.

USA Network on Monday renewed Necessary Roughness for a 10-episode third season. “Necessary Roughness is an important page in our network playbook,” the cabler's co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber said in a joint statement. “With a standout team of actors and writers playing at the top of their game, the upcoming seasons promise to deliver high-impact and creative storytelling.” The pickup means.

Is the dream of a Firefly MMO still flying ? The folks at DarkCryo Entertainment think so. The unlikely project seemed doomed due to an unauthorized use of the IP, but that may have changed. DarkCryo posted a notice on the project's Facebook page indicating that Fox has given something of a go-ahead : "With the well wishes of Fox Entertainment Group, we have reactivated the FUO MMORPG Facebook page in preparation for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
